Human Resources Assistant
The HR Assistant supports daily human resources operations within a fast‑paced meat manufacturing environment. This role assists with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training coordination, and maintaining accurate HR records. The HR Assistant works closely with HR leadership, production supervisors, and employees to ensure consistent application of company policies and support a safe, productive workplace. The Human Resources Assistant will support the daily operations of the HR team and report directly to the Human Resources Manager.
Duties:
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Assist with posting job openings, screening applicants, and scheduling interviews for production, sanitation, warehouse, and support roles.
- Conduct new‑hire orientations, ensuring employees understand safety rules, GMPs, PPE requirements, and facility policies.
- Prepare onboarding paperwork, verify I‑9 documentation, and maintain accurate employee files.
- Coordinate pre‑employment requirements such as background checks, drug screens, and physicals (if applicable).
Employee Relations & Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions regarding schedules, attendance, benefits, and policies.
- Support HR leadership in documenting employee concerns, coaching conversations, and disciplinary actions.
- Assist with employee engagement activities, retention efforts, and communication initiatives.
- Help coordinate translation or interpretation needs for multilingual workforce populations.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Maintain confidential personnel files, attendance records, and training logs in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, and food safety standards as they relate to HR processes.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and internal compliance reviews.
Work Environment
- Fast‑paced meat processing facility with cold‑room environments.
- Frequent interaction with production employees, supervisors, and management.
- Requires walking the production floor, attending shift‑change front desk support, and supporting multiple departments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2 years of HR, administrative, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/timekeeping systems.
- Comfortable working in a production environment, including exposure to cold temperatures and PPE requirements.
